Tax payment certificates

There are four types of tax payment certificate (Japanese) which can be issued by your local tax office (in person or online) for a small fee.

The ‘type 3’ certificate (納税証明書（その3) ) represents proof of no unpaid tax at the date of issuance, and may be among the document requirements for permanent residency. A sample of this certificate can be seen here.
