Names
Most systems in Japan require proof of ID to register, and the seed document for this for foreigners is the Residence Card. However, these systems are designed Japanese names in mind, and often do not accept a foreigner's name as it appears on their residence card. Due to the fact a name must be altered when registering with a specific system, discrepancies between systems can cause issues when trying to link different systems, which often require an exact name match to be successful, for example when linking bank and securities accounts.
This page documents some common name issues and examples of how they have been resolved (work in progress).
